Cultural organizations are being transformed by demographic, economic, technological and social factors outside their immediate control. AEA Consulting's mission is to help the cultural sector to make informed strategic choices in the face of these changes. For the arts to thrive requires both an understanding of these trends and the capacity to respond to them. Our grasp of these issues and commitment to the sector has allowed us to work with many leading and leading-edge cultural organizations and their stakeholders throughout Europe, the Americas and Asia, helping them to define, plan and achieve their long-term goals.

Founded in 1990, AEA maintains offices in New York and London. Our closely integrated international team places staff who have held senior positions in arts management alongside colleagues with backgrounds in public policy, business and financial, economic and market analysis. This unusual combination of perspectives has enabled the company to complete well-grounded, successful assignments that have effected lasting organizational improvement for our clients – performing and visual arts organizations, public and private funders, policy makers, and educational institutions.

Supporting a Vibrant Cultural Sector in California

The James Irvine Foundation has commissioned AEA to help define the key challenges facing California's arts sector today and identify strategies toward building a healthy and sustainable sector for the future. The working paper generated as part of the first phase can be found here. In addition, AEA and Irvine would love to hear your views on what makes a sustainable cultural sector for the future, in California or elsewhere. Please send us an email or post your comments on the project blog.
