The Benjamin Franklin Museum
Philadelphia

|
AEA was commissioned by the Pew Charitable Trusts and the National Park Service in 2005 to conduct a feasibility study and schematic design for the redesign of the Benjamin Franklin Museum in Philadelphia. The assignment coincided with worldwide celebrations of the 300th birthday of Benjamin Franklin and sought to create a museum that does justice to Franklin’s public legacy and personal life, on the site of his former residence.
AEA assembled a project team that included Casson Mann Designers in London (www.cassonmann.co.uk) that undertook an analysis of best practice in biographical museums; an assessment of the museum’s core strengths; a market analysis; a business plan including a vision statement, preliminary programming plan, and five-year financial plan; site analysis, options appraisal and design proposal.
